One of those books you can't put down, an absolutely amazing read, full of twists,
Gone Girl is one of those books that you might start reading in bed, and before you know it it's 3am and you're fighting to keep your eyes open to read just one paragraph more. I can't say much without spoiling it. It's a really gripping story of a guy called Nick who comes home one day and finds that his wife Amy is missing. What ensues is a really complex, driven story starting from when they met to when Nick tries to find out what happened to her. It's written from both Nick and Amy's perspectives so you get both sides of the story inch by torturous inch, which is such a clever device particularly useful in this book. The premise of the story had me guessing "oh, such-and-such must have happened, it's so obvious". But put your preconceived notions of such themes away and forget about any potential ideas about what happens in the next chapter and the next, because this book will blow your expectations away with its twisting, turning narrative. This is now one of my favourite books I've ever read. It's a must buy.
Sorry to say, but I have put it away finally after after two thirds and not finding it to get any better. The main character is really not a person who's acquaintance I would welcome, and neither her husband. I simply got fed up reading about her various activities against her husband, after she found out that he was having an affair. Simply very tiring and not something I would approve of. A very spoilt brat, if you ask me. No, thank you, but this is one of the very few books I regret to have bought.
after reading 20 pages I gave up, one of the most boring books I've ever read way too overrated.
I just could not put the book down and I absolutely enjoyed reading it. The ending was a bit loose but overall it was a great suspense book and probably one of the best for me
